Vulcan Iron Works Farm

Welcome to Our Farm!

Vulcan Iron Works Farm is a working farm owned and operated by the O'Connor Family. The farm specializes in fancy breed poultry, farm fresh free-range eggs, organic produce, gourmet foods, and catered platters for special occasions. They also manufacture and trade in three-dimensional, historical reproduction signs. Vulcan Iron Works Farm is located in the Primrose Valley area of North Smithfield, Rhode Island.

The farm's name was inspired by Vulcan Iron Works in Charleston, South Carolina, an iron foundry owned by Archibald McLeish in the Civil War era. John O'Connor saw the foundry's unusual sign in an old Civil War photo and was inspired to re-create the sign in his workshop. He hung it on a small building on his property, then added a "Great Northern Railway" sign soon after. When the O'Connors built a chicken coop nearby for their fancy poultry and became a small working farm, they decided to call it "Vulcan Iron Works Farm." The O'Connors plan to have a farm stand in northern Rhode Island in the near future where they will sell their fancy breed poultry, eggs, produce, gourmet foods, and artisan signs.
